From October 14th to 18th, the global tech community will converge on Dubai for the 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest technology and startup event. The five-day gathering, hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is expected to impact the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy.
With more than 6,500 companies, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from over 180 countries set to participate, the event aims to cement the UAE’s role as a leader in AI innovation. GITEX GLOBAL 2024 will feature exhibitions from some of the world’s largest technology enterprises alongside governments, venture capitalists, researchers, and academia—all under the theme of “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy.”
“We’re seeing a nearly 40 per cent increase in international participation this year, reflecting the ambitions of young digital nations that are eager to make their mark on the global AI economy,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of the Dubai World Trade Centre. “Through GITEX, we aim to propel the next generation of AI-driven technologies strategically.”
An AI-Driven Economy Takes Shape
The global AI market is projected to reach $621 billion in 2024 and surge to $2.7 trillion by 2032, the event will showcase AI as the cornerstone of future industries. Over 3,500 enterprises are expected to unveil cutting-edge innovations in artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Among the key players participating is TECOM Group PJSC, marking its 25th year at GITEX.

The UAE’s Ambitions as a Global AI Hub
Leading organisations from Abu Dhabi, including the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and G42, are set to bolster the UAE’s growing reputation as an emerging AI powerhouse. The event will also feature global tech giants such as Amazon Web Services, Google, Huawei, and Microsoft, presenting innovations across 38 Dubai World Trade Centre halls.
This year’s edition will introduce the region’s most significant Data Centre Symposium, spotlighting industry leaders like Datalec, Khazna, and Schneider Electric. The symposium comes as companies worldwide grapple with skyrocketing data storage demands driven by the rapid adoption of AI technologies.
A Platform for Startups and Global Investors
Running concurrently with GITEX GLOBAL is Expand North Star, a startup and investment event hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Set at Dubai Harbour from 13-16 October, Expand North Star will bring together global founders, venture capitalists, and tech investors managing over $1.2 trillion in assets. The event will also feature the Supernova Challenge 2.0, one of the world’s largest startup pitch competitions, with a $200,000 prize pool up for grabs.
The event’s co-located summits, including Fintech Surge and the Future Blockchain Summit, will explore how emerging technologies such as blockchain and AI are transforming sectors from finance to marketing.
Unprecedented Global Participation
This year’s GITEX GLOBAL will welcome the highest level of international participation in the event’s history, including more than 400 government and digital development agencies. Many nations, from Austria to Singapore, will make their GITEX debut, presenting innovations designed to boost their standing in the global tech economy.
Europe’s largest deep-tech investor, the European Innovation Council, will participate for the first time, joining established exhibitors from the United States, China, and South Korea.
The increased international representation is part of a broader effort to drive global business development and technology investment. Institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and University College London (UCL), alongside significant tech firms such as Sony, Honda, and Standard Chartered, will use GITEX to form new partnerships.
Cybersecurity in the Spotlight
Cybersecurity will also take centre stage with the launch of GITEX Cyber Valley, hosted by the UAE Cyber Security Council. The event is expected to draw thousands of cybersecurity professionals to discuss the growing risks posed by cybercrime, which is forecasted to cost the global economy $10.5 trillion annually by 2025.
“GITEX GLOBAL provides a critical opportunity for us to engage in meaningful dialogues about the future of cybersecurity and the digital economy,” said Leo Chen, Corporate Senior Vice President at Huawei, which will have a flagship presence at the event.

Looking beyond this year’s event, GITEX GLOBAL will build momentum for AI Everything Global 2025, which will take place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in February. The event will gather visionary AI companies and thought leaders to discuss building a responsible AI industry to power the future economy.
With its expansive agenda and record-breaking participation, GITEX GLOBAL 2024 is poised to set the tone for the next wave of AI-driven technological advancements and international collaborations.
