Gemini is what comes to our mind first when we think of Google AI. However, the Alphabet-owned search engine giant has many other AI features and services tailored according to use cases across segments.
Here are five such AI services by Google that are more than just your typical AI chatbot and offer comprehensive solutions to both end users and developers.
AI within Google Workspace
Google has deeply integrated several AI features within the apps that we use on a daily basis, including Gmail and Docs. Google Workspace subscribers can now create project drafts, summarise content, and even copy-edit content within Google Docs with the help of Help Me Write. Similarly, Gmail users can summarise, reply or shorten a response using AI on Gmail. Corporate users with Google Workspace subscriptions or users with Google One AI Premium can use these features on desktops and also on smartphones.
Circle to Search
This is possibly my favourite AI feature on a smartphone. Currently limited to a few Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel smartphones, it uses AI to recognise images and offer reverse image search-like capability. Recently, Google also added new capabilities, including the ability to detect music and automatically translate the text on the screen. It is reported that more Android smartphones will soon gain Circle to Search, enabling more people to experience Google’s latest mobile AI innovation.
Gemma
If you are looking for an AI playground with Gemini-like capabilities to build your own chatbot, Gemma is one such large language model. Unlike Gemini, which is a closed-source model, Gemma consists of several small and large language models, which are lightweight and offer exceptional AI performance. The Gemma 2 is the latest open-source AI model by Google, which includes four different models sized 2B, 7B, 9B, and 27B, and all these models are compatible with open-source AI work such as JAX, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, making it easy to work with and compatible with most hardware.
Vertex AI
Vertex AI is Google’s most advanced multimodal model that offers access to various Gemini and Gemma models for businesses, which can be used for text, image, video generation, and more. It includes Google’s most advanced reasoning capabilities, enabling businesses to build applications with next-generation AI capabilities. However, it is only available for developers and businesses who are Google Cloud customers. Although it is not free, with every new sign-up, Google is offering credits worth $300 to test out the capabilities of Vertex AI.
Google AI Studio
Again, another AI tool for developers. This is a platform that enables developers to design and develop their own AI services, powered by either a Gemini or Gemma model. Users can choose and optimise the language model that works best for their use case by tweaking parameters like token count, temperature, safety settings, output length, and more.
